GONZALES RESIGNS… more good news… or is it?
Posted on | August 27, 2007 |
So, after months of testimony, denials, I-don’t recalls, and non-response responses (not to mention the full support of the idiot-in-chief) Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has tendered his resignation. The man, who as the highest ranking justice official in the land, sought to dismantle most of the protections our Constitution provided us during his tenure, has finally decided to pack it in. Well, I just have one thing to say to that man: Fuck You. Fuck you very much.
Gonzales represented exactly the opposite of what his position called for. He was nothing more than a political hack, interested only in doing the bidding of his master, while in a position that requires an individual to be anything but partisan. Had Gonzales truly been interested in justice (which, as head of the Justice Department, one can only hope he would be) he would have been investigating his own boss more than listening to my phone calls. Standing up to the White House on issues like wiretaps without warrants and detention without trial, instead of firing attorneys who weren’t partisan enough and had the audacity to not follow every single edict issued from the administration. But as good a thing it is that he is gone, what next?
Time and again, this White House has talked openly about listening to Congress, or to the American people and then done exactly the opposite. So what will we get in place of Gonzales? Who will the Senate be willing to confirm to finish out the tragedy that is the Bush presidency? Or will Bush simply go the way of the coward, as per usual, and try a recess appointment? Say what you want about the guy but he’s got balls the size of Alpha Centauri. If past experience is any judge, he’ll probably give the gig to Karl Rove. And if that happens… well, then those of us who wanted Gonzales out are going to feel pretty stupid aren’t we?
Bush is like a wounded and cornered animal now, and he’ll do anything to survive. It all reminds me of something the late, great Hunter S Thompson once wrote about Nixon…  And if we strike Nixon’s name from it, and just drop in Bush it does seem fitting… [Bush] has the fighting instincts of a badger trapped by hounds. The badger will roll over and emit a smell of death, which confuses the dogs and lures them in for the traditional ripping and tearing action. But it is usually the badger who does the ripping and tearing. It is a beast that fights best on its back… Badgers don’t fight fair, bubba. That’s why god invented dachsunds.” It’s gonna get worse before it gets better.

Aaron:
Did you notice that Mr. Bush said, “It’s sad that we live in a time when a talented and honorable person like Alberto Gonzales is IMPEDING from doing important work because his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons.”
Of course — thanks in part to a complicit media all too willing to clean up messes or ignore truths — the quote was changed to the as-written “impeded” when it appeared later in print, but the words actually spoken and caught on video said volumes about what really has been going on.
And now the angry, defeated, delusional Mr. Bush is likely to want revenge even more. He’s apt to designate another inept, inexperienced toadie to do his bidding, imagining, still, that his vindictive agenda is more valid and virtuous than the Constitution or the rule of law and knowing that others in the echo chamber will comply yet again, attempting to put a positive spin on things to hide the truth.
Thank you for using words that express honest frustration and fear and expose the administration for what it is.

Great post, I enjoy when people use Hunter S. Thompson as a reference. That really shows the quality of a human being that you are :). Keep writing this great political outbursts because this right on key! P.S. Bob dylan is a GOD

Aaron,
I just noticed your website and read your blogs. The blog concerning Gonzales let me know that we have very similar political “ideologies”. I will start reading your blogs more often. Congratulations on the completed theater production. I look forward to reading more of your opinions. Perhaps next time I will send more elaborate responses.
