The Big Apple, New Stuff and… Rove Resigns!!!

“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”
-Sinclair Lewis
Well, it’s hard to imagine a much better headline than the one I just woke up to here in NYC: Rove Resigns. However, a closer reading reveals it’s not under threat of indictment, prison, or trial at the Hague- as it should be- but supposedly by his own choice. He gives the old standby “To spend more time with my family” but that can’t be the real reason. The man is genetically dishonest and every word he utters to the press falls somewhere in the realm of spin, disinformation, or simple bald face lies. He seems to be the one man most responsible for the miserably failed presidency of Bush the Lesser and he should be made to suffer for it somehow. Well, he and all those lovely god fearing, homophobic, xenophobic, fools who voted for him twice. The man has introduced more fear and hate to America and more death and destruction to Iraq than bin laden could ever have dreamed of doing himself. And, for the moment at least, it looks like he may walk away free as a bird. Disgusting.
Moving on… I’ve been busy with, well with lots of things, but among those a lot of new pieces.
The new line started with a reproduction of the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign that has been very well received here in NYC. The Vegas sign inspired me to explore the world of American Roadside Architecture and the result has been some of my favorite pieces in years. They are selling well here at my show in NYC and I am excited about all the new possibilities they are opening up for me.
There is so much to do when I get home it makes me a bit nervous though. Another huge show to prepare for in October, the possibility of opening a retail store, and most importantly, the play I am in opens September 7th! We’ve been rehearsing quite a bit and I wish we didn’t have to take a week off so close to opening night, but it is definitely coming along. We’ll have 3 weeks of daily rehearsals once I get home to really polish it off and hopefully really nail this thing. Check out our myspace page at www.myspace.com/burnthisplay for times, tickets and more information. Hope to see you there!

O.K. I’m so PO’d at my computer today!
I’m trying to post but it keeps loosing my posts.
So Here I go for the third time!
As I was trying to say… I see you had the same reaction to the news today. Yes something has to change or this country will be in even more trouble than it’s already in! You are not alone in your thoughts about what’s going on!I would add my two cents but I will be a lady and keep my mouth shut!
I’m glad you have updated your blog.I will check out your MY SPACE later (I must be the only one who doesn’t have or want one) I will also go see the info on your play,I really want to go! I hope I find someone to go with me who knows how to get around-drive in S. California.I’m glad that so many wonderful things are going on in your life! My life is still awaiting it’s new begining,it’s tough when the guy doesn’t want to let me go.I’m ready for my new chapter but it’s not always so simple!
Life…I wish it came with instructions!
I do hope you get a chance to post more often than you have.It would be wonderful to sit down and talk to you and get to know you.You seem like a great, smart, funny, and kind person! I hope that oportunity will present itself.
( it would be so nice if you I did run into you in Anaheim,Ca. as I said I will be there for Josh Groban’s concert on Aug-25th,a few of us girls will be staying at the Ayres hotel,we are driving down on fri.afternoon)
Talk later
BIG HUG! -Mariza

Hi - just thought I’d write and tell you how much I enjoy your blogs!!! You are such a cool fella. Just finished watching an episode of “Freestyle” of which you were still a part when filmed, but hence, I read in your blogs that you are no longer with that show. I know I’m behind the times, sorry. Anyway, you were a big part of the reason I watched that show, other than it being right up my alley, not having any money to redecorate my house and such. Anyway, good luck to you in all your endeavors. Somehow, I feel like I know you without ever having met you! I enjoy your political commentary also - rock on!!!!! You are one intelligent, talented man.

Couldn’t agree more about Rove. I just wish it had happened sooner. I hope it’s not another case of too little, too late.

Hey Aaron,
It was nice meeting you at the NY Gift Show. The space we are showing in has a very good vibe and I like the exhibitors around us. I just wanted to let you know that I had to go back to the show to retrieve a couple of orders that were left in my crate. My cousin and I noticed that one of your wonderful pieces were still downstairs in the main foyer… the showcase area. I hope it was not an oversight. Wishing you the best with your play… and future shows.
